1 – Carry a notebook or use the notes section of your phone.

When you have a question or concern related to the building process of your custom home, write down them down. So instead of calling about every thought or event, you can review your notes on your weekly visits with your custom home builder. This enables you to have the full attention of the project manager as he will be up to speed as to what is going on in your home!

2 – Be realistic in your expectations.

Coordinating all the trades necessary is what we do! Sadly, at times there are moments when stuff goes wrong. For example, a few years ago a truck carrying kitchen cabinets crashed on the freeway because of a snow storm. That put the schedule behind for some customers… while that doesn’t make the waiting easier it helps in understanding that no one was at fault. The question you should be wondering is how will we deal with the change of schedule when it comes to the  building process of our custom homes? Good communication as well as listening is essential so that we can understand how this affects you and you can understand how we are adjusting the schedule! This leads us to our final thought…..

Remember to put down in writing what you would like! Asking questions to understand the procedures will help you to know what is going to happen next! Being thorough in looking at your contract will ensure you are getting everything you deserve!
